The Lonsdale Neighborhood
Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt;
you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.
Isaiah 58:12
Lonsdale is an urban neighborhood in North Knoxville, Tennessee. Today it is primarily comprised of Guatemalan immigrants, African Americans, and African refugees. Though it has a deep history of racism, the neighborhood has become more unified by community efforts such as gardening, the Lonsdale market, and Light Up Lonsdale.
